Jenny Xu: Introducing the SIP Asia Desk.

After starting her early accounting career in China, Jenny moved to Australia in 2004 and completed a Master of Professional Accounting from Monash University. CA qualified, she joined the Deloitte Partner Services in 2013 and was entrusted with their high-level personal tax and affairs. Completing her Master of Taxation from The University of Melbourne during this time, Jenny transitioned to Deloitte Private in 2015 to focus on high net individuals and foreign businesses.

Jenny joins SIP with a strong skillset for inbound foreign investment from Asia. She is bilingual and can seamlessly assist with regulatory issues, having keen insights into the different cultural, language and business practices. Her in-depth understanding of both the Australian and Asian markets assist her in delivering tailored services and building strong and longstanding relationships with her clients.

“I really enjoy providing a high-quality service and helping Chinese clients with their accounting and taxation issues so they have an easier entry into the Australian market.”

Chinese firms invested 2.5 billion dollars in Australia in 2020 and accounted for approximately 28.8% of total trade in 2019-20 between the two countries, with China growing to Australia’s sixth-largest direct investor.[1] Whilst there are many legislative and cultural differences between doing business in Australia and China, Jenny works closely with our extended SIP team to help SIP meet its clients’ tax, accounting, and transaction advisory needs. She assists in-bound investors to resolve their complex accounting and tax issues for their business operation in Australia and the associated tax issues for individuals and families behind the businesses. Her clients operated across multiple industries including investments, property development and manufacture and e commerce.

When Jenny is not working, she enjoys cooking and is a Master Chef fan and loves exploring different cuisines in addition to Chinese cooking. She stays active with yoga, pilates and tennis and spending time with her two sons. Jenny was attracted to join Slomoi Immerman Partners by the strong work ethic of the firm and the emphasis on building enduring relationships with clients.

“The client centric focus, backed up by the delivery of solid results is evident in the culture they have created in the office. Everyone is hard working and gives a high level of client care.”

Jenny makes a point of mentioning the people that make up SIP, “their personality, their morals and their vision” are something with which she personally is strongly aligned.
